Restaurant addition for Shaka Shack
A new section with concrete floors, tall ceilings, a big glass door for daylight, exterior colors to match the restaurant’s theme and a metal ceiling instead of drywall.
Millville grew up around a steam sawmill in the late 1800s and was incorporated in 1906. It lies about a mile west of the Atlantic Ocean and runs right into Ocean View, with DE 26 and DE 17 as its main roads and Evans Park and its community building among its landmarks. Until 1993, Sussex County handled all land use regulation in Millville.
From Dover, the run to Millville is about 87 minutes and 57 miles. If your lot is governed by an HOA, the Town asks for its approval letter, so we line that up with the County permit and the Town application. Then our crews build, and your project manager keeps you posted until the work is done.

The Town of Millville Facilities and Building Department, at Town Hall, 36404 Club House Road (302-539-0449), issues building permits, reviews site plans and inspects new construction and renovations. Sussex County requires its permit for all construction, even in towns it does not inspect, and Millville asks for a copy of it with the Town application, so the County permit comes first.
The Town application needs an HOA approval letter if one applies, the copy of the County permit, two sets of detailed plans and a site survey showing where the building will go. Starting work before the permit is issued doubles the permit fee under Resolution 18-05. Construction hours run 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays from September 1 to May 15 and 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. from May 16 to August 31, with Saturdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and no Sunday work except by homeowners.

Where this comes from
Permit details checked October 2026. Rules change, so we confirm the current requirements for your parcel before anything is drawn.
About a mile from the ocean, storage for beach life makes sense: a garage deep enough for a boat and trailer, a shed for chairs, umbrellas and boards, or a pool house beside the patio. Commercial buildings on the Route 26 and Route 17 corridors follow the Town’s Commercial Building Design Standards, adopted in 2011, with sloping rooflines (a 6/12 minimum in C-1) and a distinct base of stone, masonry or decorative concrete.

Yes. Millville’s application asks for a copy of the Sussex County building permit, along with two sets of detailed plans, a site survey and any HOA approval letter. The Town then issues its permit and does the inspections.
Probably not. A third-party copy of the Town Code says private accessory structures such as sheds are not permitted in common lands or condominium communities. Rules like that can change, so we confirm with the Facilities and Building Department, and with your HOA, before planning one.
A third-party copy of the Town Code describes an FH Flood Hazard District that puts residential lowest floors at base flood elevation plus 12 inches and lets accessory buildings of 200 square feet or less skip raising if they meet wet-floodproofing conditions. We confirm the current numbers with the Town before drawing.
It takes us about 87 minutes to reach Millville from 575 N Dupont Hwy in Dover, a drive of 57 miles, and the town is part of the area we serve from design to final inspection.
